Hi, I am Jaclyn Pfingsten, LCSW
I specialize in supporting women navigating anxiety, eating disorders and disordered eating, body image distress, and maternal mental health. My work is grounded in a deep understanding of trauma and the ways our experiences shape our nervous system, our relationships with ourselves, and the ways we learn to cope.
Many of the women I work with have spent years trying to be “okay” — pushing through, staying in control, and adapting to what feels expected of them. They may find themselves caught in cycles of overthinking, perfectionism, people pleasing, or feeling disconnected from their own needs and emotions. They may have learned to question whether their feelings are valid, whether their needs are “too much,” or whether taking up space will create conflict, disappointment, or rejection.
Sometimes these patterns show up through food, body image, control, avoidance, or other ways of trying to create a sense of safety. In therapy, we begin to understand these patterns with curiosity and compassion — not as something wrong with you, but as ways you learned to navigate your experiences.
I believe therapy is deeply relational. Healing does not happen simply because someone gives you the right coping skill or tells you what you “should” do. While tools and techniques can be helpful, lasting change often comes from having a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. I recognize that knowing what might help and actually being able to access those tools when you are overwhelmed are two very different things.
In our work together, we focus on shifting your relationship with your inner world — moving away from constantly fixing, controlling, or suppressing what you feel and toward building a deeper sense of self-trust, compassion, and connection.
I am an EMDR Certified Therapist, and I integrate EMDR therapy, parts work (including Ego State and Internal Family Systems–informed approaches), and somatic therapy to support healing from a compassionate, trauma-informed lens. Together, we explore the experiences, beliefs, and messages that shaped the patterns that once helped you cope, while creating more flexibility and freedom in how you respond to yourself and your life.
The goal is not to get rid of the parts of you that struggle. It is to understand them, build a more compassionate relationship with yourself, and create a life where you no longer have to shrink, disconnect, or abandon your own needs in order to feel worthy of care and belonging.
