Therapy for Body Image
Body image concerns can significantly shape how someone moves through the world—impacting relationships, self-expression, confidence, and willingness to engage in everyday life. For many people, body image distress is not just about appearance, but about safety, worth, and belonging.
In our work together, we explore both the internal experience of body image and the external cultural context that shapes it. We live in a society that constantly reinforces the idea that bodies need to be changed, managed, or “fixed,” which can deeply influence how we relate to ourselves.
Because of this, I often support clients in moving away from all-or-nothing goals of body acceptance and instead beginning with body neutrality—shifting from preoccupation with appearance toward being more fully present in your life as it is happening.
This work is not about forcing positivity or ignoring distress. It is about loosening the grip that body-focused thoughts can have, so there is more space for connection, choice, and lived experience.
Together, we also hold compassion for the reality that body image struggles are not individual failures—they are shaped by culture, messaging, and systems that profit from dissatisfaction. Healing often involves both internal work and external awareness.
