Disordered Eating Therapy— Heal Your Relationship With Food

I work from a Health at Every Size (HAES) aligned perspective and integrate principles of intuitive eating and collaborative, team-based care when appropriate, including coordination with physicians and dietitians.

Eating disorders and disordered eating often develop as adaptive responses to internal overwhelm, emotional intensity, or experiences of feeling unsafe, disconnected, or out of control. What may begin as a way to cope—through control, structure, or numbing—can gradually become something that takes up significant mental space and limits a person’s ability to fully engage in their life.

I support clients across the full continuum of care, from early stabilization and building motivation for change, to deeper exploration of underlying emotional patterns, attachment experiences, and protective functions of the eating disorder itself. This may include understanding what the behaviors have been trying to do for you—such as creating safety, reducing uncertainty, or managing distress.

I also have advanced training in EMDR-informed approaches for eating disorders, which can support processing the underlying experiences that contribute to these patterns.

This work is held with deep compassion. Even when eating disorders begin as protective, they can become limiting and painful over time—pulling people away from relationships, spontaneity, and a fuller experience of life. Together, we work toward restoring both connection and flexibility.
